The machine
The drum machine is Ken's own.
He built it: two instruments of his own, one for the kicks and one for everything above them. The kick one shapes the sub by hand, then its harmonics, then the drive, then whatever it wants layered on top. The other is thirty-six drum circuits, the 808 and 909 among them, played from a keyboard. Every synthetic tone in the pack comes from those two.
Then the real ones: hands, wood, metal and plastic, recorded in stereo with a pair of Neumann KM184s through Neve 1073 preamps and API 550b EQs, and layered onto the machine. All original.

The movement is already on it.
Many of these drums went through Tape Sway on the way out: a little drift, some wear, width on the tops. It is part of why they sit in a track instead of on it. To do the same to your own sounds, that is the plugin.

Is it really free?
Yes. No checkout, no card, no trial that runs out. It arrives by email. When the full pack is released, we'll send a download link to that as well.
What do I get now, and what comes later?
Now: part one, the loops and one-shots that are finished. The pack is still being made. When the full pack is released it goes to the same inbox, free to everyone who got the first part. You do not have to do anything twice.
Will it always be free?
That is not decided. It is free now, and everyone on the list when the full pack is released gets the full pack free as well. After release it may get a price. Whatever you download stays yours, and stays royalty-free.
What does royalty-free mean here?
Use the sounds in your own music and owe nothing, however far the song goes. No fee, no split, no clearance, no credit. It covers commercial releases, streaming, sync, and beats you sell or lease.
What can I not do with it?
Sell or share the files as samples, or put them in another sample pack or library, edited or not. The sounds are for making music with, not for passing on as sounds. The same words are in a text file inside the zip.
What format are the files?
WAV, 24-bit. Tempo is in every loop's filename, so loops that share a tempo are easy to find. The previews on this page are compressed; the pack is not.
Will it work in my DAW?
Yes. They are plain audio files. Drag them into Ableton Live, Logic, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, or a hardware sampler.
Do I need Tape Sway to use it?
No. Many of the drums went through Tape Sway while the pack was made, so that character is in the files already. Check out Tape Sway if you want some movement on your own sounds.
Where do the sounds come from?
Ken Berglund recorded every sound himself, then layered each one with a drum machine of his own making. Every tone and every click is recorded or generated from scratch. Nothing in the pack is taken from any other source: no sample library, no subscription service, no record. All of it is original.
Will there be more after this?
The World of could be a series, and Fat Pop Drums is the first title. We will see if this one encourages more.
